Got a sewing machine and don’t know where to start? Keen to refresh your skills? This is the workshop for you!
Knowing your way around a sewing machine is a valuable life skill that can save you money and reduce your impact on the environment. This workshop will give you skills, confidence and inspiration to begin your sewing journey.
Jane will introduce you to the anatomy of your sewing machine and how to set it up, then guide you as you try out the different stitches on paper before putting your new skills into practice with a simple scrap fabric project.
This relaxed pace, small group workshop is designed for beginners.
We will provide:
- a sewing machine if you need to borrow (email info@simplyrepair.org.uk to reserve)
- all materials, fabrics and threads for sampling and projects
- printed worksheets to take home
- organic, Fairtrade hot drinks and palm-oil free biscuits.
What to bring
- your sewing machine if you have one
- your sewing machine’s power cable, instruction manual and any accessories
- a simple sewing kit (sewing needles, pins, seam ripper)
- a pair of good quality fabric scissors
