Simple sketching on a summer afternoon

£20.00

Sunday 18th August 2024
14:00 – 16:30 BST
Space2Create, Kendal

A relaxing afternoon of simple ‘green sketching’ exercises, a nature walk and time to experiment with various media and find your own style.

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon where you can immerse yourself in nature and creativity. Karen will guide you through some short doodling exercises (both indoors and on a walk around Kendal Castle) until you have the confidence to go and experiment with a range of pens, pencils and paints and find your own style.

Green sketching (developed by Dr Ali Foxon) is for all abilities, from absolute beginners to accomplished artists. The purpose is to relax, observe nature around you and have fun making marks in response to what you see and feel. It’s not about producing an accurate representation of what you see, but is about enjoying the moment.

The aim is to enjoy the process rather than focus on the outcome and take away new relaxing, creative skills that you can practise at home.

Accompanied children over 12 years old are welcome (ticket price £15, email info@simplyrepair.org.uk to book).

Class sizes are kept small making sure that everyone gets attention and assistance when needed.

We will provide:

  • all art materials and tools, but feel free to bring your own too
  • guided instruction step-by-step from Karen
  • organic, Fairtrade hot and cold drinks and plant-based cake

What to bring

  • An apron.
  • Waterproof clothing (you never know!) and shoes suitable for walking in.
  • A folding chair or stool if you’d prefer not to stand whilst you’re drawing outdoors. We will be outside walking & sketching for at least half the session, weather permitting.
