Style a ‘Green’ Festive Table

£25.00

Thursday 5th December 2024
18:30 – 21:00 GMT
The Eddington Centre, former United Reformed Church and hall, 106A Highgate, Kendal LA9 4HE

Join us for a sociable evening where we will style a festive table using vintage finds and seasonal foliage. Learn the furoshiki method of gift wrapping to make table treats and enjoy seasonal mocktails.

Learn how to style a festive table using charity shop and vintage treasures. Karen, Carol and Kate will provide some examples of settings along with simple tips about buying vintage/retro items, styling, colour and practicalities.
Make your own table decorations using seasonal foliage.
Wrap small gift boxes with ‘found’ fabrics using the Japanese furoshiki technique. These parcels can be used as table decorations as an alternative to crackers.
You can then have a go at styling your own place setting using a range of table linens, crockery, candles and foliage whilst you enjoy a seasonal mocktail. We’ll talk you through the process of making a shrub (a fruit-based syrup, mixed with vinegar, to create a delicious tangy flavouring for drinks) which will be used in the mocktail.
All materials, along with crib sheets, will be provided and you can take home the decorations you make.
There will also be some vintage items, natural wax candles and plant-dyed ribbons available to buy, so please bring cash if you think you might like to make a purchase!

We will provide:

  • all materials
  • crib sheets to take home
  • seasonal mocktails and nibbles

What to bring

  • an apron, or clothes that you don’t mind getting messy
  • your own table linens and samples of crockery if you wish to include them on your table
  • cash if you wish to purchase items for sale in the workshop
