Join us for an introduction to the gentle art of English Paper Piecing (EPP). This traditional hand-sewn patchwork technique originated in England in the late 1700s. Also known as ‘Mosaic Patchwork’, EPP is one of the oldest patchwork techniques that has survived through the ages.
EPP patchwork is a highly portable craft which you can carry with you to indulge in some mindful sewing anytime, anywhere! It’s also a great way to use up fabric scraps!
Jane will introduce you to the EPP method, which involves stabilising a fabric patch by fixing it to a paper template (the ‘paper piece’) and sewing the stabilised patches together into larger patterns, or quilt blocks. Then together we will put your new skills into practice with a simple project to take home.
This relaxed pace, small group workshop is suitable for beginners.
We will provide:
- all the fabrics, paper and threads you will need
- printed worksheets to take home
- hot drinks and biscuits (organic and palm oil-free)
What to bring
- a pair of good quality fabric scissors
- any cotton fabric scraps that you’d particularly like to use (e.g. old items of clothing)
