Join our full day willow and plant fibre weaving workshop and learn about this heritage craft from a local tutor as you make a small wall-hanging basket.
This is a workshop for anyone who likes to use their hands and wants the satisfaction of creating something unique from locally and sustainably sourced materials. Beautiful and useful, these baskets are possible to recreate at home and make a wonderful gift.
What will you learn?
- general willow weaving techniques, also all about the (few) necessary tools
- green vs. soaked material, sourcing material, storing and the soaking process
- when to cut and soak willow and what tools to use
- other useful weaving materials and how to find them in gardens and hedgerows
This relaxed pace, small group workshop is designed for beginners and will also suit anyone looking for a refresher. By the end of the workshop we hope you will leave feeling inspired and with the confidence to do your own weaving projects at home.
We will provide:
- all tools and materials that you will need to create your basket
- guided step-by-step instruction from Hannah
- organic, Fairtrade hot drinks and palm-oil free biscuits
What to bring
- a packed lunch
- a pen and notebook
- clothes that aren’t precious or an apron
- a camera or phone to document the stages of construction if you wish
